ANNOUNCEMENT
13th February 2008 Moshi Tanzania
This afternoon at 1400 hours our aircraft Cessna 172 reg 5H FUN crashed shortly after takeoff. There were two fatalities, Capt. Baraka Lutwaza (Tanzanian) and videographer Hayden Rowan (New Zealand).
Two people were injured, passenger Sian Bolton (British) and tandem master Izak Snyman (South African). They were both admitted to KCMC Hospital Moshi with multiple injuries.
14th February 2008 Sian Bolton has been flown by Amref to Nairobi Hospital and is currently in the intensive care unit. Izak Snyman is in the ICU at KCMC Hospital Moshi where he is being treated for multiple fractures to both femurs and concussion.
The aircraft had returned the morning of the incident from Dar es Salaam where it had completed mandatory 100 hour service / check with a registered aviation maintenance company. Inspectors from Tanzania Civil Aviation Authority have conducted an investigation and the report is pending.
Our thoughts and prayers are with the families of the deceased and for the speedy and full recovery of the injured.
Skydive Kilimanjaro have suspended operations.
